Community Partners & Sponsors

Summer Slam Session 2026

Summer Slam Session 2026 would not have been possible without the incredible support of our participants, families, volunteers, sponsors, community partners, local businesses, organizations, and the City of Thornton.

What began as a vision to create opportunities through sports and community came to life because of the people who showed up, gave their time, shared their resources, and invested in the next generation.

To every player, parent, volunteer, sponsor, and community member who helped make this event possible—thank you.
Together, we created more than a basketball tournament. We created an opportunity for connection, growth, mentorship, and community.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF

DEBRA LYNN THOMPSON

Championship Award Dedication

April 5, 1960 – April 23, 2026

This year’s Championship Award was presented in memory of Debra Lynn Thompson, a woman of strong faith, selfless service, and unwavering love for her community.

She was always willing to lend a helping hand, encourage others, and make a difference wherever she went.

Debra’s life was about more than what she accomplished; it was about the pathway she created for others to follow. Through her faith, kindness, and commitment to serving those around her, she left footprints that will continue to guide the next generation.

As we honor her memory, may we be inspired to carry forward her legacy by serving others, uplifting our communities, and creating opportunities for those who come after us.

“Her legacy lives on through faith, service, and community.”

Support Summer Slam Session 2027

Creating Opportunity Through Community, Sport, and Creativity

As we step into a new year, Generational Opportunities continues its mission to create positive, lasting impact through youth engagement, community events, and charitable outreach. Your support helps make programs like Summer Slam Session and other year-round initiatives possible—bringing people together, investing in the next generation, and strengthening our community.

One of our flagship events, Summer Slam Session, is a free, tournament-style 3v3 basketball charity event hosted in partnership with the City of Thornton during Thorntonfest. The event features boys and girls ages 10–17 competing in 12U, 14U, and 17U divisions, followed by adult 3v3 games where adult team buy-ins directly sponsor youth participation. Returning for its second year after debuting in 2025, all youth participation fees are covered by community partners and sponsors.

Whether you’re an individual donor, a local business, or an organization looking to give back, your contribution directly supports event planning, resources, and outreach that allow us to keep youth participation free and accessible. Sponsorship opportunities—including booth space—are available, and all donated amounts go directly toward supporting youth and community programming.

Together, we’re building opportunities that inspire connection, growth, and hope—
one event, one family, and one generation at a time.
